DEDUCTIBILITY OF TRAINING AND CONTINUING EDUCATION COSTS (IFD: Impôt Fédéral Direct– Direct federal tax)
The Federal Act of 27 September 2013 on the taxation of training and further training costs for professional purposes contains new provisions for their deduction.
Under these provisions, all training and continuing education costs for professional purposes are deductible from taxable income as long as the taxpayer holds a secondary II diploma. If he does not hold such diploma, all training and further training costs for professional purposes are also deductible from income, provided that the taxpayer has reached the age of 20 and that the training costs do not aim to obtain a secondary level II first diploma. A Secondary diploma follows compulsory education (general education/vocational training).
